Last week I posted a blog about my return to Gelacio I. Yason Foundation – Family Farm School (GIYF-FFS) in Oriental Mindoro to be a Fellow for Kopernik on the Lighting up Rural Philippines Project. Not long after my arrival, the first shipment of d.light products also arrived.

Recently Toshi and I took a trip to visit our solar light project on Atauro Island, Timor Leste. This trip was very special because TV Tokyo from Japan was coming with us to make a documentary of Toshi and Kopernik’s projects. The TV Tokyo crew had started the documentary last year in November by filming some of our projects in Indonesia.

Kopernik recently implemented a new project in the Philippines. Working with Gelacio I. Yason Foundation Family Farm School (GIYF-FFS), a local NGO based in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, we are aiming at providing clean, affordable and efficient lighting and phone charging capabilities to some of the most disadvantaged communities in Oriental Mindoro. Here is the first blog post from our Fellow, Emily McQualter.
