Help provide families in Cote D’Ivoire with solar lighting for household and school use.
Poor and dangerous lighting: Kerosene, fuel or red palm oil lamps are typically used to light homes and schools in communities in Cote D’Ivoire. Not only are these lights not very bright, they also pose serious threats to the health of community members and the environment, working against local development efforts.
The solar lights will ensure that communities can access more effective and environmentally friendly lighting while benefiting from the positive impact solar powered products can have on local development efforts.
132 families are expected to benefit.
Families attending the adult literacy program with children attending school, especially girls, will be prioritized.
Nine-Eleven volunteers will provide communities with training and sensitization with regards to the importance and use of the D-Light. The product will then be sold to families and also distributed to participants of Nine Eleven’s adult literacy programme free of charge, as the cost of registration will cover the product cost.
