Problem

Traditional cooking methods in villages require a lot of wood. This results in rapid deforestation and the excessive smoke produced causes various respiratory diseases in the women using them.

Proposed solution

Energy efficient biomass stoves will solve the problem of smoke and will require less wood as fuel.

About the beneficiaries

Tribal villagers of Bairagarh and Shankarpura (Bijawar Block, Chhatarpur District, Madhya Pradesh) who are dependent on agriculture and non-timber forest produce.

Distribution

As the organization is already working in these villages to provide safe drinking order, they will use their established consultative mechanisms within the communities to establish most needed beneficiaries, and then will sell the products at a locally appropriate price to those who wish to purchase.
