Help expand the resource and training centre in Rachuonyo district to provide an enabling environment for the rural poor’s social, political and economic empowerment.
In Rachuonyo district, the majority of the population is computer illiterate. Evidence shows that people lack basic computer knowledge, skills and information that can easily be accessed through the internet. Usage tends to be greater among upper class or urban elites with higher levels of education and financial resources. These users make up less than 10% of the population.
This project will allow for much needed expansion of the computer resource and training centre in the district. The product will be rented out to beneficiaries at low cost and inexpensive printing facilities will also be made available. The availability of NComputing X-Series virtual desktops will provide Rachuonyo residents with a unique opportunity to access a wealth of information without having to travel outside their communities, serving many people at the same time.
The resource centre will create an enabling environment for the rural poor’s social, political and economic empowerment, and will also more effectively support income generation, education and create greater awareness on health related issues and human rights.
By the end of the project period, Banfarm expects at least 65% of the population (or 100,000 people) to benefit.
The majority of the Rachuonyo district population is computer illiterate and will benefit from the resource centre.
