Description

The Embrace Infant Warmer is designed to provide heat to infants weighing 1.5-3.0 kg to assist them in maintaining normothermia. The system is comprised of three main components:

  • A Pouch that contains saline solution and a heat-storing phase-change material (PCM) within a polyurethane casing
  • An electric Heater that heats the Pouch to approximately 37° C, after which the Heater may enter a Dwell Mode in which it keeps the Pouch heated at this temperature.
  • A Sleeping Bag that holds the infant and the Pouch in adjacent compartments to promote sustained warming of the infant.

The Pouch is heated up to approximately 37°C by placing it in the electric heater, which runs off 240V AC power, and beginning the heating cycle which takes approximately 20 minutes. Then, the Pouch is removed and placed into the Sleeping Bag with the infant. The Pouch will remain at 37°C for over 4 hours, providing heat to the infant.

One Starter Kit for the product includes one Heater, one Pouch, and one Sleeping Bag. Additional Sleeping Bags and Pouches can be purchased as necessary and all components of the device are fully re-usable.

Only requires electricity for the 20 minute warming cycle (Heater warms Pouch). The >4-hour warming period for the infant (Pouch warms infant) requires no electricity and is a portable device. No electricity comes near the infant. This infant warmer costs less than 1% of a traditional incubator.
