Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA) as a development entity with a commitment for social development through empowerment was established in the year 1980 and registered under societies Registration Act. 1860 of the Indian Constitution. The organization was established for initiating a movement to promote volunteerism and social action based on ‘Gandhian Philosophy’ of rural development to create a self dependant and sustainable rural society.

 The organization has been efficient in its ideology of dedication for eradication of poverty and fortifying the quality of life of poor, destitute and marginalized section of people for last 3 decades. During this period, OSVSWA has undertaken many activities through research and action as a measurable tool to success on renewable energy, rural transport and accessibility, community governance, ICT for development, natural resource management, rural infrastructure, gender equality, drought and desertification etc.
