4. FIELD OFFICER
 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Kopernik program management staff to implement and monitor project activities.
  • Assist Kopernik management staff in setting up tech agent and tech kiosk programs and conducting technology fairs to introduce various life-changing technologies.
  • Facilitate trainings for local partners and beneficiaries on entrepreneurship skills, products knowledge, inventory management, marketing and data base management.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local governments, local partners, community leaders, community members, media and other stakeholders
  • Provide updates and monitoring reports for Kopernik and project stakeholders
  • Submit weekly report
  • Other tasks required by Kopernik management staff

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Indonesian national
  • English speaker
  • At least 2 year working experience in community development programs especially in women’s empowerment

5. TECH KIOSK NETWORK MANAGER
 

Kopernik has established a network of technology kiosks (Tech Kiosks) to provide a sustainable and scalable supply chain for simple, life-improving technologies to the last mile. The Tech Kiosks operate within already established independently owned and operated small shops (warung) which account for 85 percent of Indonesia's retail.  Kopernik is recruiting a Tech Kiosk Network Manager that will scale this initiative.

Kopernik is seeking an entrepreneurial, innovative and results-driven candidate with significant expertise in project management.

  • Development of a ‘Tech Kiosk in a box’ - package of tools for warung owners to become Tech Kiosk resellers and improve their business.
  • Refine and deploy Tech Kiosk branding and communications materials.
  • Development of training package for participating Tech Kiosk resellers.
  • Deployment and refinement of mobile payment system, point of sale system and inventory management system.
  • Sign up new and manage existing network of Tech Kiosk operators.

6. DESIGNER/DESIGN OPERATIONS FELLOW


Background

Kopernik is a pioneering technology distribution innovator. We are exploring fresh directions in facilitating access to life changing products/services for people in communities that exist outside of the reach of conventional supply chains. We create and share a culture of quality, trust, and choice with our customers, and extend this into every new program or venture that we explore. Our Design Operations Fellow is the facilitator of this continued exploration.

Purpose

The Design Operations Fellow is the innovation champion of Kopernik, they carve out paths of creative and considerate iteration for our work, and for our ranks, to journey along. 

Roles & Expectations

  • Design Process Facilitator: Guides teams through cycles of design research, concepting, prototyping, realisation, on any given project. Becomes the ‘chief of iteration’, imposing standards to help decide when outputs are ready for external testing. Shines with creative confidence and capacity and helps to inspire other Kopernik staff to learn and apply design and innovation skills. Co-plans/facilitates program and product /service pilots.
  • R&D Studio Head: Leads a concepting, prototyping and iteration space, with live project walls, design tools and ‘creativity resources’ at hand (hard and soft). As the creative portal of the organisation the studio is a place that all Kopernik staff can and should feel free and able to utilize, that has an approachable, ‘open’ , and safe environment. It is the nest for Kopernik’s future innovations.
  • Creative Community Networker: Nurtures partnerships with creative agents and creative communities globally, and draws from this network to bring a higher level of creative knowledge to Kopernik, as well as access to greater prototyping and testing capacity. Keeps finger on the pulse of socially inclusive design.
  • Quality Control: Scrutinises products and services with a sharp constructive design eye for their integrity, usability, and durability, representing and looking out for a positive customer experience (feeding back this information to Kopernik management and also to Technology Providers).
  • Design Strategist: Contributes to Kopernik strategy as required (or as inspired).
  • Customer & Partner Representative: Co-design with customers and partners to make sure their demands and needs are able to be voiced, documented, and imbued into the design of the services that they eventually will be accessing.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5 years professional experience in a creative facilitation role.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Product or Industrial Design.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills /respectful demeanor.
  • Excellent Illustration/Visualisation/Communication Skills
  • Willing to learn local languages as required.

Time

  • The Design Operations Fellow is asked to work a minimum of 5 days per week (8hrs per day), Monday to Friday.
  • A minimum of two weeks out of every two months will be spent within the customers environment.

7. FELLOW FOR KALIMANTAN PROJECT


A Kopernik fellowship provides a unique opportunity for entrepreneurial individuals of the highest caliber and potential to work with our partner NGOs and assist with the implementation and monitoring of projects disseminating appropriate technology.

Technology Monitoring Fellow

Project: Lighting Up Rural Kalimantan’s Darkest Hours

Location: Galinggang Village, Central Kalimantan

Time frame: July – September 2013 (3 months)

Job Description: 

  • Based on past examples provided by Kopernik, refine survey tools for rapid impact assessment
  • Conduct impact assessment on Lighting Up Rural Kalimantan’s Darkest Hours
  • Conduct interviews, surveys, case studies, and conduct quantitative analysis of results.
  • Submit the final report to Kopernik. The final report will include case studies of at least three households as well as recommendations and plans for future partnership with the local partner.
  • Write weekly blog posts on the fellow’s day-to-day life and Kopernik related activities, to be posted on Kopernik’s blog and newsletter.
  • Document Kopernik’s work with high quality photos.
  • Write weekly reports for Kopernik on fellow’s activities.
  • At the end of the fellowship, submit Kopernik Partnership Assessment and Fellow Reflection reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree is a must, graduate studies help
  • A proven passion for international development is imperative
  • Leadership skills, an entrepreneurial mind and motivation are essential
  • Appropriate technology experience or local language skills are a huge plus
  • Candidates must commit for a minimum of three months

Description of the project:

Together with local partner Yayasan Puter Indonesia, Kopernik is distributing 180 units of solar lights (d.light S250) to rural communities living in Galinggang Village, Central Kalimantan. The purpose of this project is to provide access to safe and clean solar lighting, as there is no access to electricity in the village. All fellowships are unpaid positions. However, Kopernik will provide a monthly stipend of 500 USD and an additional 500 USD to help with visa and airfare costs. Each fellow is responsible for securing additional funding needed.

9. LOGISTICS AND PURCHASING OFFICER
 

Kopernik is seeking to employ a Logistics and Purchasing Officer to manage and manage and oversee all product procurement, warehousing, and shipping activities across the value chain. The role will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective processes are implemented from product vendors through to the end customer across all Kopernik project locations in Indonesia. This role is expected to create and implement a comprehensive SoP to ensure the effective implementation of procurement, inventory management, logistics and shipping for Kopernik.

Purpose/Summary:

  • Develop a comprehensive SoP to ensure the effective implementation of procurement, inventory management, logistics and shipping.
  • Manage the product supply chain from supplier to end customer for all Kopernik distribution across Indonesia.
  • Responsible to ensure products arrive at Kopernik locations safely and on time.
  • Develop regular management reports for purchasing, inventory, and shipping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the procurement of established and new products.
  • Manage product delivery and transportation to distribution points and saes locations.
  • Manage inventory and warehousing for all stock.
  • Coordinate with project and field officers to ensure accurate stock forecasting.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for product procurement, warehousing, inventory management and shipping.
  • Develop an effective recording and reporting system for purchasing activities, inventory, and shipping.
  • Provide regular update reports on inventory and shipping status to COO, project and field officer.
  • Confirm shipping and logistics to ensure order requirements are met with third-party providers.
  • Manage relationships and maintain communication with related business partners (suppliers, shipping vendors, local partners, agents, and internal staff)
  • Manage the administration and paper work for all procurement, shipping and warehousing activities.

Position Specifications

General characteristics and experiences:

  • Educational level similar to bachelor degree in business administration, management, accounting, logistics, freight or similar related field.
  • At least 3 years working experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, inventory management or related field.
  • Detail oriented, organized, with strong time management skills.
  • Able to communicate and cooperate with stakeholders.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Indonesia (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Project) are a must.

10. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR (BASE: ALOR TENGAH UTARA, ALOR, NTT)
 

Yayasan Kopernik distributes simple life-changing technologies to the last mile through its local partners. In Alor Tengah Utara, District of Alor, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Kopernik has recently launched a partnership with a local cooperative group to distribute life-changing technologies to the cooperative’s members as well as to community members. The distribution mechanism will involve selling technologies using appropriate payment systems.  Kopernik will implement a tech agent program in which Kopernik provides the technologies on consignment; select and train tech agents who will sell technology products and get commission for each technology product they sell.

To support the implementation of the project, Kopernik is currently recruiting the following position:

Job Title               : Community Development Facilitator.

Base                      : Alor Tengah Utara, Alor, NTT.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with Kopernik program management staff and local partner to implement and monitor project activities in Alor District, NTT.
  2.  Assist Kopernik management staff in implementing tech agent program and conducting technology fairs to introduce various life-changing technologies.
  3. Build the capacity of the local partner by delivering trainings on entrepreneurship skills, products knowledge, inventory management, marketing and data base.
  4. Set up logistic, supply chain and inventory system and management for the local partner.
  5. Develop and maintain good relationships with local governments, local partners, community leaders, community members, media and other stakeholders.
  6. Provide and submit weekly report, updates and monitoring reports to Kopernik and project stakeholders.
  7. Other tasks required by Kopernik management staff.

Requirements and qualifications:

  1. Indonesian national. Applicants from Alor or NTT preferable.
  2. At least 2 year working experience in community development programs especially in livelihood or business development or microfinance.
  3. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
  4. Fluent in English and Indonesian.
  5. Positive attitude, supportive, shows initiative,  is able to adjust to new culture and can work under limited supervision.
  6. Fully computer literate (word, excel, powerpoint, internet) and possession of his/her own laptop is preferable.
  7. Willingness to live in, work in and travel to rural villages.
  8. Must have a valid driving license for motorcycle (SIM C).
