Following 11 March earthquake and tsunami in Japan, it was hit again by the smaller, but strong earthquake on 7 April, leaving more areas without electricity.
Powerfilm, one of Kopernik's technology providers, has made a generous donation of 48 sets of foldable solar panels, battery chargers and rechargeable batteries to the victims of the natural disaster.
Many people in the affected areas continue to live in temporary shelter, without access to reliable energy. The lack of electricity is causing additional difficulties to the people already in a very harsh living condition. Due to the broken supply chain in the affected areas, it has been cumbersome to bring replacement batteries.
Powerfilm's solar powered battery charging kits enables the tsunami victims to regain access to electricity, without using fuel or batteries that require frequent replacement.
144 people (assuming 1 pack provides power to 3 people)
They will be delivered to the victims of the affected area.
They will be distributed by Winroader, depending on the latest needs.
Powerfilm donated 48 solar kits for free, as well as generously covering the international shipping costs from the US to Japan.
