Japan emergency project: Give lights to the tsunami victims in Japan - Phase 2 (緊急津波被害者支援プロジェクト第2弾)

Japan

On 12 March 2011, Japan was struck by a devastating earthquake and tsunami. The death toll continues to rise and tens of thousands of people remain homeless without access to energy and lighting. This emergency project is providing much needed lights via solar powered lanterns to people in the most severely affected areas, in close collaboration with the local authorities. These lanterns are a simple and efficient solution that will greatly address both the lighting needs and the security of the devastated communities.
