Feedback from Miyagi
To date, a total of 2,348 solar lights (d.light S10) and 50 sets of solar powered hearing aids (Solar Ear) have reached the tsunami affected area in Japan.
One of our partners, the secretariat for the support to the hearing impaired has just shared some feedback from hearing impaired recipients of the S10s:
"THESE SOLAR LIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY USEFUL."
"FLASHLIGHTS CAN ONLY LIGHT UP A SMALL AREA, BUT WITH THIS S10, AN ENTIRE ROOM CAN BECOME BRIGHT. WE USED TO POINT THE FLASHLIGHTS TO THE HANDS WHEN WE SPEAK, BUT BECAUSE THE SOLAR LIGHTS CAN BE HUNG, THEY FREE UP OUR HANDS, AND SO WE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH SIGN LANGUAGE EASILY."
"The user instruction on the box was very illustrative, thus easy to understand how to use it properly."
It is very heartening to hear these comments. Just as is the case for Kopernik's projects in the developing world, we take our end users' feedback very seriously.
