To achieve any of the SDGs in any country, no single player can do it alone. Not even some of the biggest corporations, foundations, and institutions in the world. We need effective synergies between like-minded partners to channel resources for collective impact.
This is why Kopernik has been engaging with both the private and public sectors in developing products and services for marginalized, underserved communities in Indonesia and beyond. We conduct pilot sales of innovative products for Fortune Global 500 companies, advise bilateral aid agencies in designing innovation funds, and support private foundations in their global and country strategies.
As part of our effort to engage with and bring together players from different spheres for common goals, Kopernik has become a sponsor of two sessions at the upcoming Sankalp Southeast Summit in Jakarta. In one of the sessions titled “Unusual Suspects for Innovation”, panelists will draw on their rich experiences in forming creative partnerships across multiple sectors. Some specific examples that will be shared at the panel include:
- Suzy Hutomo (Body Shop Indonesia) sharing insights on Body Shop's initiative to build a forest corridor in Sumatra and Greenpeace's "plastic whale" campaign that went viral around the world
- Ashran Ghazi (MaGIC) talking about MaGIC’s newly launched Impact Driven Enterprise Accreditation (IDEA) Program and Girls in Tech’s ambitious Impact 4 Humanity initiative.
- Valerie Crab (UNICEF Indonesia) explaining UNICEF’s corporate partnership with the travel company Amadeus, as well as the importance of involving boys in raising awareness of menstrual hygiene issues in Indonesia.
- Chris Loxley (Unilever UK), through video contribution, introducing the Transform initiative - a Unilever-DFID partnership to support market-based models that meet the needs of low-income households in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. An example of this initiative is a project in Myanmar to combat malaria and dengue in collaboration with Kopernik
