Many mums-to-be in rural areas of Rajasthan, India, lack access to basic medical assistance, including during childbirth, because of the distance from their homes to the government hospital. As a result, many women opt to give birth at home. This introduces the risk of infection after childbirth due to the lack of medical equipment and trained medical workers.
By connecting JANMA Clean Birth Kits with mums-to-be, they will have access to a safe, clean birthing process. A JANMA Clean Birth Kit contains six tools recommended by WHO to ensure sanitation and sterility at the time of childbirth. Mums-to-be no longer need to worry about avoidable infections, mortality and morbidity at the time of childbirth. The kit components come packaged in an attractive jute bag that can be reused as a purse.
We are helping mums-to-be living in rural areas of Rajasthan, India. Our local partner, Gravis, has already been providing healthcare for these new mothers through their hospital in Tinwari and health camps.
Gravis will distribute the kits for free through their hospital and health camps. They will also provide training for village health workers, nurse and midwives on how to use the kits.
Non-financial contribution: technology distribution, training for village health workers, and local administrative costs.
