Kopernik wins IIX-N-Peace Innovation Challenge

We hope that this award will help mobilise more support for clean energy micro-social-enterprise and women’s empowerment through energy access, both within Indonesia and beyond.

We also wish to congratulate the winners from the five other countries in the IIX-N-Peace Innovation Challenge.

We’re happy to announce that Kopernik has been chosen as the Indonesian winner of the IIX-N-Peace Innovation Challenge, a joint initiative by the N-Peace Network, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX).

The challenge is an enterprise competition that aims to accelerate the peacebuilding agenda by supporting Impact Enterprises working to empower women, engage youth, and catalyse innovation and technology.

We are thrilled to receive this recognition for Kopernik’s Wonder Women Program. By supporting micro social entrepreneurs in clean energy, this initiative empowers Indonesian women to boost economic development and make life easier for families in remote villages. By easing the burden on women’s time through simple household technologies and creating new businesses where opportunities for women are extremely limited, we hope to encourage sustainable development in some of Indonesia’s poorest provinces, leading to more stable, peaceful and prosperous communities.

We wish to thank our major funding partners, individual and Tipping Point donors, our hard-working team, and, most importantly, our ‘wonder women’ across Indonesia, who share our passion for improving lives through simple technology.

We also wish to congratulate the winners from the five other countries in the IIX-N-Peace Innovation Challenge: Arzu Studio Hope in Afghanistan, Koe Koe Tech in Myanmar, Higher Ground Nepal in Nepal, Buksh Energy in Pakistan, and Coffee for Peace in the Philippines.

We hope that this award will help mobilise more support for clean energy micro-social-enterprise and women’s empowerment through energy access, both within Indonesia and beyond.

The award will be officially presented at a UNDP event in New York on 22 October 2015.
