THE PROBLEM

In early September 2025, heavy rainfall triggered severe flooding across at least 120 areas in Bali as reported by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), damaging homes, cutting off access to basic needs, and affecting thousands of families, including women and girls who lost access to menstrual products and sanitation facilities.

At the same time, several eruptions were still happening at Mount Lewotobi in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), some 8,000 residents in East Flores remain dependent on emergency aid as of late October, unable to return home due to ongoing volcanic activity (ANTARA News). Many communities are still living in temporary shelters with limited hygiene facilities, making menstrual health management extremely challenging.

Periods and hygiene needs don’t stop during disasters, yet it is often overlooked in emergency responses. This campaign aims to bridge that gap by providing essential hygiene kits and education to help women and girls regain confidence, health, and dignity during recovery.

THE SOLUTION

  • Distribute 1,000 hygiene kits to 1,000 women and girls in affected communities.

  • Deliver education sessions, focused on menstrual health and hygiene in emergencies .

  • Partner with Kopernik and PKBI (Indonesian Planned Parenthood Association) for local coordination, education facilitation, and monitoring.

  • Reach schools and underserved communities, ensuring adolescent girls and women have access to sustainable, safe menstrual care solutions.

THE EXPECTED IMPACT

This project continues Perfectfit’s prior social effort in Bali and East Flores, where the team has supported 2,000 women and girls with period dignity kits (hygiene kits) in collaboration with local school communities and partners including BCF, PKBI, Green School Bali, and Kyeema Foundation. As well as Kopernik's emergency response to support families and communities severely affected by the recent floods in Bali. In partnership with BPBD Bali distributing emergency supplies such as tarpaulins, mattresses, and blankets to impacted areas, with a focus on vendors at Kumbasari Market in Denpasar.
