Together in Action: Mt Agung Emergency Response

According to recent government reports, more than 34,000 people have been evacuated from a 12-km radius around Mount Agung as of September 24, as an increasing series of tremors continued to be felt in the area.

To meet the ongoing, urgent and evolving needs of the evacuees, we have launched a new phase of fundraising, Mount Agung Emergency Response: Phase 3.

In this next step, we aim to reach evacuees in need over the next 2 weeks in distributing critical supplies such as blankets, sleeping mats, diapers, medical supplies, water filters, solar lights, clothing, stoves, food and much more.

This is a community effort coordinated by Kopernik, IDEP, Bumi Sehat, Rio Helmi, Rucina Ballinger and the Green School Parents.

In the last 72 hours, we have sent 6 truckloads to four evacuation points in Karangasem, Bangli and Buleleng. We have sent critical supplies -- blankets, mats, diapers, medical supplies, water filters, solar lights, clothing, stoves, food and formula and much more.

As of the morning of 25 September, an amount of US$ US$19,115.69 has been raised online and through in-person donations that are being administered by Kopernik. These funds are being immediately used for supplies that are being directly distributed to evacuees in need.

More than 50 members of the community have also dropped off in-kind donations at the Kopernik office as of Sunday, donating food, blankets, diapers and sanitary pads, and other hygiene products which have been delivered to evacuation centres. Kopernik will continue to receive and distribute donations.

There are more than 4,000 evacuees in the evacuation points in Bangli regency alone.
