Kopernik is supporting families affected by extreme weather events that have resulted in casualties and displacement across Aceh through the distribution of emergency supplies, medical aid, and shelter kits.

THE PROBLEM

A total of 753 people have been confirmed dead as a result of flash floods and landslides across three provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

As of Wednesday (3/12/2025), the official data reports:

  • 753 people deceased
  • 650 people missing
  • 2,600 people injured

According to data from BNPB’s Data and Information Center (Pusdatin BNPB), infrastructure damage includes:

  • 39.34% of bridges damaged
  • 16.97% of places of worship damaged
  • 42.5% of educational facilities damaged
  • 1.18% of health facilities damaged

Meanwhile, the number of displaced people has reached 1.5 million residents in Aceh alone. In total, 3.3 million people have been affected by this disaster.


THE SOLUTION

Kopernik is providing shelter kits to the affected locations in partnership with Yayasan Haka. The kits comprise of the following:

  • Tarps (A5) : 100 pieces
  • Foldable Mattresses : 300 pieces
  • Medical aid : 21 boxes
  • Food items : for 100 households
  • Nazava water filter : 500 pieces
  • A2 Solar lights : 400 pieces 

THE EXPECTED IMPACT

This response is expected to reach more than 2,400 people from more than 600 households in Aceh who have been heavily impacted by the extreme weather events.
