Communications Manager

Gina enthusiastically leads our communications team, promoting Kopernik’s mission and encouraging innovation for sustainable development. She first became interested in social and community development, especially with marginalised groups, 13 years ago during her undergraduate studies in theology. Before joining Kopernik, she worked in women’s empowerment, gender and disability, emergency response, and community-based projects. This professional experience motivated her to pursue a Masters in Communication and Development Studies at Ohio University, with a specialisation in women's, gender, and sexuality studies.  Gina loves traveling and cultural exchange, meeting new people, sharing stories, and hunting for local ethnic costumes and fabrics.

This year marks the fourth year since Kopernik launched the Wonder Women program in North Aceh. The program, initially managed by a team of two, has grown in size and scale, now with five highly dedicated and professional staff members.

A new US$125,000 grant from the Ford Foundation will support the expansion of Kopernik’s Wonder Women Eastern Indonesia initiative, empowering women to become micro-social-entrepreneurs (MSEs). The 12-month Ford Foundation grant will directly benefit 250 MSEs trained by Kopernik to sell a range of simple clean energy technology.
