Sally Bolton

Communications Advisor

Sally leads our communications team, managing internal and external communications for Kopernik. She has been involved with Kopernik since 2011, initially as a Kopernik Fellow supporting the distribution and impact evaluation of technology projects in the Oecusse enclave of Timor-Leste. Sally has more than ten years communications experience in the fields of international relations and development, and has worked across South-East Asia, the United States and Latin America. Prior to joining Kopernik, she worked for organisations including the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Timor-Leste Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and the Red Cross. Originally from Australia, Sally holds degrees in journalism and international studies from the University of Technology Sydney.

This past February I returned to Timor-Leste and visited Atauro, a small island 25km north of Dili, where Kopernik has worked with local partners since 2011 to distribute a range of technologies.

Every Friday afternoon, the Kopernik team gets together at Ubud HQ for TECH Talks. A little like TED Talks, without the high production values, TECH Talks provides an opportunity to research and pitch new breakthrough technologies to consider distributing. If we agree that a product would be a good fit for Kopernik’s catalogue of life-changing technologies for the developing world, our logistics team then investigates further.

Kopernik is proud to partner with the ENERGIA International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy (ENERGIA) on a new advocacy program to place women front and centre in Indonesia’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) agenda.
