On 10 March 2014, 30 guests from the Institute for Philanthropy joined us at our Tech Kiosk in Ubud to learn about how innovative organisations in Indonesia are maximising the impact of philanthropic funding. Kopernik Co-founder and CEO Toshi Nakamura introduced Kopernik's unique technology distribution and feedback model to the visitors, who had flown in from nine countries in Asia, Europe and North America.

We are very happy to share our 2013 Annual Report, for the first time in an online format. The report shares our highlights and impact in 2013, the people we reached (70,735) and the people who made it happen (41 staff, five fellows, 34 volunteers, 23 local partners... and many generous donors!). Thanks to everyone involved in making 2013 our best year yet.

She joins an elite group of leading social entrepreneurs who are recognised for their innovative solutions to social problems and potential to transform society.

Kopernik is proud to launch a new initiative tracking impact through technology, with support from the Rockefeller Foundation and Asia Community Ventures. We are conducting a comprehensive survey of impact tracker technology - low-cost, technology-based social impact measurement tools. We will use this survey to produce a catalogue to help guide people working in the impact investing, social enterprise, and nonprofit sectors in Asia and beyond.

Kopernik co-founder and COO Ewa Wojkowska has been chosen by the Asia Society as an Asia 21 Young Leader, joining a prestigious group of the region’s emerging leaders under 40. The Asia Society’s leadership program brings together young leaders based on their outstanding achievements, commitment to public service, and desire to make the world a better place by collaborating with counterparts across the Asia-Pacific region.

Launch of “Connecting People to People, Bridging Japan and the World,” JAL and Kopernik's partnership to alleviate poverty in developing countries: Today, Japan Airlines (JAL) partnered with Kopernik, a US non-profit organization to launch a program addressing environmental and social issues in developing countries.

They have all been recognized for their work at the intersection of design and service by the Global Public Interest Design 100! The Kopernik co-founders are in good company, appearing alongside 99 other inspiring teams and individuals using innovative design solutions to serve those most in need. The list was curated by Public Interest Design, a group dedicated to design for social good.

In just three years Kopernik has reached more than 90,000 people in 13 countries with life-changing technology. To learn more about what we achieved in 2012, we are very happy to share with you the Kopernik 2012 Annual Report. In the report we take a closer look at the technologies we work with, how they are distributed, and what impact they have on people's lives in the last mile. We also acknowledge the support of our donors and our local partners, who make all of this possible.

Think back to February 2010. Vancouver was hosting the Winter Olympics, the first generation iPad was still a month away from being released, and a Snowicane hit New York, bringing the city to a halt. But most importantly for us, on 19 February 2010 Kopernik was born. It was only a few years ago, but already it feels like much longer. In just three years we have reached more than 90,000 people in 13 countries with life-changing technology. We relocated from snowy New York to sunny Bali, and our team has grown to 20 people.
